* Gustavus Emile Vautrot of Mobile, AL*

Gustavus Vautrot was a city editor with a Mobile newspaper at the time of his death in 1866, following service with the Confederate Army. The son of Francois Joseph Vautrot and Marie Moyeaux Vautrot, he was born 26 Jan 18226 in Maxey-sur-Vaise, Alsace, France.
After arriving in the United States, most of his family, lived in the mid-west. Gus Vautrot, at the time of his death at the age of 39 in 1866, was a city editor of a daily newspaper in Mobile, charter president of the printers' union and alderman. Four generations of descendants have been in the printing/writing field.
