The Branneky Family Home Page

Updated September 5, 2000

Welcome to my home page. This site is dedicated to the descendants of Wilhelm Bronicke and his wife, Wilhelmina "Minnie" Voges. They were both emigrants of Germany and settled in St. Louis, Missouri in the mid 19th century. Wilhelmina Voges was born near Hanover, Germany and came to the U.S. in 1845 at age nine with two brothers and one sister. Her mother Elizabeth was either widowed before leaving Germany, or soon after the family's arrival in America. She subsequently married Conrad Backhaus.
Wilhelm Bronicke (old spelling) was in Missouri by 1851 according to his naturalization papers in St. Louis. He was 18 years old when he emigrated to Missouri in 1851. He was naturalized on Monday, May 19th, 1856. That was the very same day he married Wilhelmina Voges in St. Louis, according to the minister's return of Christopher Jung, who performed the wedding ceremony.

In 1862, the couple moved to Northwest St. Louis County and there remained the rest of their lives. They raised one daughter and four sons.

The ancestors of Wilhelm and Wilhelmina are unkown to us. This is because the family bible was sent by a well-meaning cousin to be rebound in Texas many years ago. The company lost the bible. As a consolation prize, a brand new bible was sent back. Thanks a lot!

Please feel free to contact me via e-mail--and if you find the bible, please return it!
