| I am researching the Douglas family tree which contains the surnames of Cromarty, Markwell, Kyle, Brooker, Walker, and Wilson. The Douglases mostly resided in Holy Island, Northumberland, England but a William Douglas did move to Sutherland England.The Douglases originally came from Tantallon Castle in Scotland. The earliest Douglas I have traced is a William Douglas. He was a ships captain on the ship Tantallon Aearja which was shipwrecked off Holy Island where he settled. |
