| The following information was written by Gloria (Fossum) Koester in May of 1992. "The pioneers of Norwegian emigration were a small group of religious dissenters who sailed from Stavanger, Norway to New York in 1825. After 1835, emigration snowballed and Norwegian officials became worried that their country would be depopulated. Norwegian emigration reached its climax in 1883 when more than 28,000 Norwegians left their homes. In the first decade of the 20th century, another wave of immigrants came, often as high as 20,000 a year. It was during this time that the Ole T. Enebo family took the step to move to America." "As the years go by it becomes increasingly more difficult to gather information on Ole T. and Ingrid Bakken Enebo. Already much has been lost because we did not write down many of the stories and facts that we (their grandchildren) heard as we grew up. It is good to have information in one place so this "history" is just that - a collection of facts, figures, fables and family." "Thanks especially to Doris Enebo Taylor for gleaning information many years ago and sharing it with all of us..." I, Millie (Enebo)Kimery, would like to contribute information that has been given to me by Gloria, who died in 1997. I would like to continue to gather/share any new information with all our cousins so that we can keep an on-going record of our past ancestors and present relatives. Any new information of new births, marriages, divorces, deaths, or special information for the records would be appreciated. I also need any new or changed e-mail addresses so we can all have good communication together. We meet every other year for a cousin's reunion. Our last cousins' reunion was in Sacramento, CA, in July, 2000. Check the reports below to learn about experiences and memories of our ancestors. If you want a report on the descendants of your immediate family, let me know. An up-to-date booklet will be coming to at least one member of your family to peruse. |
