Served throughout the Civil War.Fought in several battles, was captured and released.Iley Joel King was named after him according to R.B. King.
Enlisted November 1862 at Monroe, La. in Co. "F" 28 La. Inf.Was captured at Franklin, La. 15 April 1863 and later paroled at Port Hudson, La. on 11 May 1863.Was exchanged in October 1863 and returned to his unit where he served until paroled at Natchitoches, La. in May 1865. Although not documented, he is likely to have served during the Red River Campaign of 1864 (Mansfield, Pleasant Hill and elsewhere).
