1. JOHN¹ KING was born Abt. 1765, and died Bet. 1820 - 1840 in Monongalia Co., VA (WV). He married UNKNOWN. She was born Bet. 1730 - 1770.

Notes for JOHN KING:
John and his family moved from Maryland to Monongalia County, VA sometime between 1797 and 1803. This is derived from the infomation about his known children. The youngest, Comfort was born 1796-1798. All of John's known children were married in Monongalia County, VA between 1803-1826. All of his children listed Maryland as thier place of birth during the 1850 census. Comfort's marriage, in 1826, was bonded by her brother-in-law, John Cunningham. John King, his wife, and his daughter Comfort King were counted in the 1820 Federal census for Monongalia County., VA (page 53). John's son, John (Jr.), was counted on the same page, next line of the 1820 Monongalia Co. census. John (Jr.) moved to Tyler Co. in 1824. John King (Sr.) could not be found living anywhere in VA for the 1830 census. No information is known about the spouse of John King.

There were two John King marraiages listed in Monongalia county. One was in 1811 to Elizabeth Shaw. The other was in 1816 to Mary Elizabeth Floyd. One of these was assuredly the marriage of his son. This would indicate that there were two John Kings of about the same age with sons named John, all living in Monongalia county. Another possibility is that one of the John King marriages was a remarriage of John King (Sr.).
