6/4/1790 Will of Johannes Smith, Sr. of Reading Twp., Hunterdon Co., NJ, yeoman: Wife, Christeen, choice of my household goods, 3 horses, 3 cows, 6 hogs, 10 sheep and so much fodder and other provisions in lieu of her dower.Oldest son Chryteyan 5 lbs, one year after my decease, as his birthright.Son, Marthen, 30 acres of land where he lives when my youngest son is of age.Remainder of real (600 acres) to be divided between my sons, Peter, Andress, Jacob, Joseph, Isaac and Zacharias, when the youngest son living is 21.Personal estate to be sold and real rented out till the youngest son is of age.Daughter, Sarah 20 lbs, as her outset.My children who received nothing out of the estate of their grandfather, Christeyan Hasskel, shall each receive out of my personal a like amount which the others received from their grandfather.Residue of personal to be divided between daughters, Leanah (wife of Benjamin Groff), Elizabeth (wife of Derick Demott), Charity (wife of Joseph Shirts), Mary (wife of Henry Pickle),Cathrine (wife of John Severs), Christeen (wife of Henry Garbrent), Rebecca (wife of Tunis Cole), and Sarah; division to be made when youngest son comes of age.
