This Home Page is proudly dedicated to my father, Leonel (Pelkey) Pelletier. Please forgive the vagueness of data, as I just beginning to search out the roots of my family. I don’t have many memories of my father because he passed away when I was seven years old. However, what I do have is his determination and pride to go forth and rebuild the limbs of our family tree. As more data becomes available, I will update this site accordingly. First, I want to thank my sister by marriage, Leatha (a.k.a. "Jr." to the family; P.S. the term "in-laws" in our family is outlawed!).She gave me my first book on genealogy when I graduated with my Bachelor's degree. She has been truly inspirational with guiding me in research.I only hope that one day I will have at least half the information she has obtained while searching the "King" family tree! I also want to thank my mom by marriage (the "Sr." Leatha; a.k.a. "Grandma" to many!).She has been encouraging and supportive throughout my efforts. Leatha, Mom...thank you both so very much for all that you have done!God Bless! I wish to pay special thanks to my cousin, Dorothy Tardy Gouveia. For those of you who do not know my cousin, she is a very special lady. You see…Dorothy began searching our family roots even before genealogy became the “in” thing to do.When Dorothy began her search for information on our family, there was no Internet, or genealogy organizations or libraries. She relied only upon the memories of living family members, and sought out her information from the leads provided by them. Dorothy has been most gracious in sharing her information, and passing along beautiful stories and pictures relating to my family. Dorothy…Dad always said that you were like a daughter to him, even after I was born so many years after my brothers. Therefore, their no wonders that I have always had a special love for you…you’ve been more like a “big” sister than a cousin. God blesses you, Dorothy…and thank you for EVERYTHING! I want to also thank my brothers – Leo and Donald – for their stories and recollections. They were more blessed than I to have been able to spend more time with our father.I envy the time they shared with him, and relish all they have shared.Of them, too, I am proud for having following our father’s example and serving in the United States Army. Leo, Donald … I am proud to be your sister!God blesses you both. And, last…and certainly not least… my husband, James…who has been encouraging and supportive of my efforts.Knowing that my ex-husband had estranged me from my family…and how devastated I was to be such…James inflamed my desire to reunite with my family. With every ounce of information I gather he shares my delight. Many a morning when I am “surfing the web” at 4:00 a.m., he leaves me to my adventures without criticism of the hour. However, there are many times when he has gotten up and refilled my coffee and encouraged my efforts to forge ahead. James ... thank you for understanding that this is something I feel I must do! In closing, I have four special people to acknowledge…our son – David, his lovely wife – Lana, and our two beautiful Granddaughters – Sarah and Tayler.I haven’t much to give you in the form of worldly goods. However, what I do want to give you is a heritage of which you can be proud to hand down through the generations yet to come.Your own achievements and accomplishments have added to the richness of family heritage, and I am proud of you all. David, Lana…your grandfather would be so proud of you both for following his example and serving in the United States Army. Most of all he would have been even more proud of the two great-granddaughters you presented him with.Keep up the great job with raising those girls…they are the prides of my life…along with you both!!! |
