Notes for Robert Woodbridge Kingman:
Born at Bootleby Hospita on Rutland St, in the South End of Boston. Weighed 8 lbs.-10 ounces. Bob was a world traveler, having visited most of the countries of the world. Besides travel, his other hobbies included photography, cinematography, ham radio, fishing, and boating. His interest in radio began when he was a boy. Later, he would make a career out of radio and television engineering. Among his accomplishments was the contact via ham radio with stations all over the world. Early on he worked for a small AM radio station in Keene, NH. Then he worked for WBZA, which was located on the roof of a Westinghouse plant in Springfield, MA. Later, in the 40's, he moved to WBZ at the Bradford Hotel in Boston. He was with WBZ-TV at it's startup in 1948 on Soldiers Field Rd. in Brighton. He stayed on the television side of the station from 1948 until his retirement in 1971. Stemming from his interest in travel to places all over the world he got into doing talks about his experiences before audiences at various schools and churches. He died at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Brigham Circle, Boston, MA. This was just a few short miles from where he was born 58 years before.
