Notes for R
EV. CHARLES SUMNER SANDERS:
He was of British ancestry, the family home in the old country being situated in Derbyshire, that storied center of Anglo Saxon life; and very early after their removal to America, his people were connected with the earliest beginnings of the Mutual-Rights agitation which led to the organization of the Methodist Protestant Church.

FUNERAL SERVICE OF REV. CHARLES SUMNER SANDERS
Rev. C. S. Sanders, of the Pittsburgh Conference, whose critical illness was announced in last week's Recorder, passed away on Tuesday morning, November 3, and the funeral service in the home, at 110 Locust Street. Etna, was held on Thursday evening, November 5, and a final service in the old home church at Bakerstown. We pay editorial tribute to this highly gifted minister elsewhere in these pages; but the best tribute a departing preacher of the Word can receive was heartily given him in the united testimony of his fellow-ministers at the funeral service,
and in the many tokens of friendship and love from those to whom he had so faithfully ministered.
The following clergymen took part in the funeral services: Rev. Dr. A. J. Allen, Rev.
Dr. George C, Sheppard, Rev., J. C. Carpenter. Rev. Dr. John W. Hawley, Rev. Dr. Clarence M. Lippincott, Rev. Dr. J. Sala Leland, Rev. Dr. C. S. Johnson, Rev,. Alden J. Green, Rev. John Henderson, Rev. J. Gerald Houston, Rev. C, M Laing and the editor of the Methodist Recorder.
The singing was a most impressive feature of the service. Dr. J. W. Hawley, ailng: "One Sweetly Solemn Thought.".. And the, Fox Chapel choir, whose voices had so often joined with his in the solemnities of the sanctuary, sang at the home "Wonderful Peace", and "Nearer, Still Nearer"; and at the church the following: "Lead Kindly Light," "Sometime We'll Understand" 'The Touch of His Hand on Mine" and "No Night There." The choir included Mrs. Charles E. Baer, pianist; Mrs. W. J. Teats, Miss Hazel Meredith, Mrs. W. W. Campbell, Mrs. Jean M. Bricker, Mr. M. D. Hanlon, Mr. W. W. Campbell and Mr. M. C. Meredith.
