Researchimg James Kiteley 1735-1827 and his relations.AKA Kightley. He immigrated from London England circa 1765 to Willmington DE (US) where he taught school, joined the Quaker faith. He married Dr. Woods's daughter Elizabeth, taught school and farmed in several areas of Pennsylvania, finally at Muncy. His daughters married Warners (Whitacres) and Eves. His son Isaac moved to Canada in 1801. The family has since spred to nearly every State and Province.I have published a 200 page Book of our genealogy and now have 1485 names of Kiteleys and relatives in my data bank. I have found many new family members in the last year and would like to hear from you.
My main query now is to James's family in England circa 1764, (and California, and Indianna). He said he was on the streets of London and was raised by an aunt "Margaret Jeames".The Kiteleys in Longmont Colorado, and in Leighton-Buzzard England, think that his father might have been "Henry". The spelling may have been Kightley, Kightly, or Keightly as it didn't settle down to Kiteley until 1796 in Northern Pennsylvania.
He brought a case of books with him from England. These would likely be Classics, Religious, or School Texts. I would like to see, or obtain any of these books with his name on the fly-leaf. They might be in the areas of Willmington DE, York, Muncy, and Williamsport PA.
All mail will be answered promptly!!
