| My Greatgrandfather, Marcellus J. Waugh, was born in Sherwood, Michigan on Nov. 9, 1860 and died in 1892 on August 2nd. His father, William H. Waugh, was an original land purchaser in Branch County, Michigan, purchasing land in Sherwood on April 11, 1848. William H. Waugh was born in Maryland. He married Mary Elizabeth Bailey of New Jersey (or Conn)(unconfirmed) on January 27, 1857 and later divorced in 1888. They had two sons, Marcellus and William. William T. Waugh, also of Sherwood, was born in 1865. Both sons owned land and farmed in the Sherwood area. Marcellus J. Waugh married Clara L. Pierce on August 24, 1882 in Sherwood, Michigan. One son, Ervin James Waugh, my grandfather, was born on November 16, 1888. He was only 4 yrs. old when his father, Marcellus, died. I am searching for the family of William T. Waugh. Census records indicate that he was a farmer and a photograher. The 1900 census records report that he was living in Athens County, in the State of Michigan. I have been unable to follow his family after that time. |
