| I am researching the David J. LLEWELLYN family of Cardiff, Wales and Scranton, Pennsylvania. Reportedly David was a butcher in Cardiff,Wales and in 1875 brought his family to America where his sons (David, Louis or Lewis and ??? went to work in the coal mines in the Scranton area. His son David J. Llewellyn(b.abt. 1875 in Wales) went to work as a "breaker boy" in the Scranton area coal mines at the age of 9 for a dollar a day. David J. educated himself and eventually became Secretary and Treasurer of the Glen Alden Coal Company in Scranton, PA. David married Margaret WILLIAMS (b.1885-d.1920) of Scranton, Pa and produced 8 children- Henry, Mary, Ruth, Margaret, Ann, David, Thomas and William. David married a second time to Nellie Hall and moved to the Cleveland, Ohio area. I have information on the descendents of Charles Valentine MEINZER family of Scranton, PA and would appreciate any information on his ancestors, Andrew or Andreas Meinzer of Baden, Germany and Margaret RINCK(aka RINK) of Prussia. I am also seeking information on the parents of Elizabeth JOHNSON-MEINZER Scranton, PA and her parents. Her mother's name is reported to be FANNY aka Gramma Dottie NICHOLS. Fanny Nichols reportedly married Albert Paul JOHNSON a native american of the Mandan-Sioux tribe. It is reported that Albert Johnson is buried in Bath, NY. Surnames: BARNES, COURTRIGHT, DAVIS, DUDLEY, DUNNING, JOHNSON, LLEWELLYN, MEINZER, NICHOLS, SHERWOOD, SHOUP, SPENCE, WILLIAMS |
