Several years ago, with the help of my father, mother and other family members, I started researching my family tree. This has become an enjoyable pastime and an interesting and challenging endeavor.

The first, or earliest KNOBLOCK ancestor I could find any information on, that can be traced down to me, is John Knoblock,(born abt.1725), a soldier from the kingdom of Prussia. He was my GGGGGrandfather. His wifes name was Rosina (Gurkin), who died in Prussia. John and Rosina Knoblock had at least one son, born in Silesia or Guhrau, Prussia. His name was Friedrich.(I)(abt.1768-1827).

Friedrich (I) married Magdalena (Friesz), born in Hoenshein. They had two sons named Friedrick (II)(1797-1875) and Jacob (1803-1869). Friedrick (II) was brought up and baptized in the Lutheran faith. When he was twenty-five years old, (1822), he married Margareta (Lentz) from which marriage there were three children: Frederick (III) (1825-1915), Caroline (1827-1912), and an unknown child who died in 1875.

The first Knoblock's, in my family, to set foot on American soil were Friedrick Knoblock,(II) (1797-1875), my GGGrandfather, and his brother, Jacob(1803-1869). They emigrated to America from Hoenshein, France after the death of their father, Friedrich(I), (1768-1827), arriving in 1828 (date and ship name unknown). They traveled on to Ausenburg, Ohio, now called Canton, arriving June 5th 1828 with Friedrick's wife, Margareta (Lentz) ( -1828), a son, Frederick (III), (1825-1915) a daughter, Caroline,(1827-1912) (who were both born in Hoenshein, Alsace, France.(now Germany), and his mother, Magdalene (Friesz) who was the widow of Friedrich (I).

They first settled in Canton, Ohio where Friedrick (II) first worked sawing lumber by hand. Margareta (Lentz), his first wife, my GGGGGrandmother died September 8, 1828 leaving Friedrick (II) without a wife or a mother for their two children, Frederick (III) and Caroline. About the same time period Magdalena (Friesz) passed away. (My GGGGG Grandmother). (Continued below in Related Files - Knoblock History-p.2)
