We are researching two branches of our family history: the Knowles family where we have got back to Thomas Du Rose Knowles a tin plate worker from London who married Ann (Annie) Taylor at St. Mary Le Strand, Middlesex on February 1, 1874 and gave birth to a large family amongst whom is Reginald Eric Knowles our grandfather born at 37, Fortnum Road, Islington on February 5,1891.
We are also researching our grandfather and grandmother on our mother's side of the family. He was James Hunter - he changed his name at some point perhaps when - he married Florence Mary Jeffreys who was born in Santanda in Northern Spain. We have no birth dates but they lived in Mosslea Road, Penge, London SE20 and had five children: James Hunter, Edward Hunter, Ronald Hunter, Errol Hunter and Stella Florence Hunter our mother.
