Charlie H. Goodson
Charlie H. Goodson was born in 1852, died April 30, 1934, age 82 years, was married to Jeston Lowe in 1868 and unto this union was born 6 children 2 boys and 4 girls all living.
He was confined about 10 weeks. During this time he suffered so much and talked about his future and said that he was ready and waiting to go at any time. He often talked about seeing the little angels with their golden harps and said that he had won one of them, too. He had a host of friends, his children, and many grandchildren to mourn their loss. He was a faithful member of the Roaring Gap Church about 8 years. Want to say to all to try to meet dear granddad on the other side where parting and sorrow will be no more. Funeral services were conducted by Elders: M.E. Poole, C.E. Bartley, C.S. Ramey and A.C. Walker and he was laid to rest in the Roaring Gap Cemetery to await the resurrection morning.
Dear father how we loved you,
Loved you more than tongue can tell,
How it grieved our hearts when you left us,
And had to say farewell.
Oh the home it is so lonely,
And our hearts are so sad.
For the place is so vacant,
Where we used to see dear dad.
But we hope again to meet thee,
In that happy land so fair,
Where there will be no parting,
In that land just over there.
