From "The History of Souderton": William Weil was confirmed at the Reformed Church at Indian Creek on Oct 20, 1784. He was but 10 months old when his father died, what the family did immediately after that we do not know.

The first record of a purchase of a farm was in 1791, this must have been around the time of his first marriage to Caroline. This land was a part of the original Christian Souder tract, which his son, Jacob Souder, sold to Christian Smith on May 23, 1785 and contained 25 acres. This is part of the present Norman Allebach farm (1966), along the Cowpath Road west of the Indian Creek Church. The homestead of this farm is located on the tract that William Weil owned Smith sold it to William Weil in 1791 and William Weil sold it to Jacob Hagey in 1802. Thus he lived on this farm with his first wife, she died there, and he remarried and lived here a short time before selling it.

In 1802 he purchased a farm of 77 acres from Michael Hartman, this tract had been owned by John Ludwig Bilger and his son, George Bilger, by Dr. Walton Yoder (1966), in what we know as the "Green Hill", east of the Branch Creek and south of the Cowpath Road. This farm was in the Weil Family name for 64 years. William Weil was a blacksmith by trade.

The heirs of William Weil, the senior, sold the homestead farm to his son, Samuel H. Weil in 1853. The heirs of Samuel H. Weil sold this farm to William H. Weil in 1865 and he sold it to Price J. Patton in 1866. He sold it to Anna Eliza, the wife of Samuel Givins, in 1871 for the sum of $8000. By a later sale Dr. Walton Yoder purchased the homestead part of the farm.

William Weil's son William H. Weil record his children in his family Bible and it is from that Bible that was in the hands of Jonathan Weil, late of Telford, Pa., that some of the information below was taken. (Children of John William)

From the book "History of Souderton" by Henry S. Landis, page 16

George Henge Homestead "A few of the older residents still remember an old log house in the meadow, near the present Hillside avenue, about 100 yards southwest of Main street. This was the home of the George Henge family for more than 50 years. Christian Souder, Sr., and Maria, his wife, on May 30th, 1795, sold a tract of 50 acres of land to George Henge on which he erected the above-mentioned log house. This George Henge was the great-grandfather of Reuben G. Hengey. After the death of Henge, the farm was sold on April 4th, 1848, to John H. Kulp, and John H. Kulp and Eliza, his wife, on April 2nd, 1856, sold it to Jacob Hange, who, after selling a number of small tracts, on April 4th, 1864, sold 15 acres to Jessaias Huber, who erected a cigar factory on the site of Silverstein's Store. The Sheriff on November 20th, 1866, sold the property to Joseph Groff and Joseph Groff and Hannah, this wife, on July 25th, 1907, sold it to Freed & Lukens, who opened Hillside avenue and divided the tract into building lots."

Notes for MICHAEL HENGE I have been trying to tie in the John L. Hangey family into our Hangey branch. John traced his ancestors back to a Levi Hangey who was married to Amanda Cope. The cemetery database from the Heritage Soc lists Levi to be born in 1822 and buried in Leidy's cemetery. This is the same cemetery as Jacob, George, and Michael are buried. I believe Levi to be either the son of Michael (not likely) or a son of one of Michael's brothers (more likely Jacob b.1795 or Abraham b. 1805). He has to be a common ancestor to George and Maria
