Research began on my branch of the Kogge family tree, the Ferdinand Charles Kogge branch, in the fall of 2002. Ferdinand, my 2nd great grandfather, came to the U.S. on May 18, 1850 from Germany. There is now a connection to the Charles Paul Kogge branch through mutual ancestor Kogges that lived in the historic town of Hightstown, New Jersey in the early 1900s. Amelia Kogge d/o Arthur H Kogge s/o Ferdinand Kogge married Gustav Bardel and lived on South Main Street. Walter Charles Ferdinand Kogge married Aileen Cubberly in Hightstown and local newspapers reported that event. When Walter Kogge passed on a few years later, the newspapers reported that my great grandfather Arthur Kogge was an uncle to Walter Kogge. Since then I have been able to trace a connection to the Hacker family through the marriage of my first great grandfather Arthur H. Kogge to my first great grandmother Jennie S. Hacker. Jennie's great grandfather was Captain Hoysted Hacker, of the U.S. Continental Navy during the American Revolutionary War. Captain Hoysted Hacker was senior in rank to the famous captain John Paul Jones. Through this connection I was accepted as a member of the Sons of the American Revolution on August 5, 2004. Family members who would like to apply to the SAR or DAR organizations can contact me for further information. Pertaining to the family tree information prior to the 1600s, there are many tenuous connections that I am in the rather long term process of verifying. I would like to thank the following cousins, found through much hard work and research: 2nd cousin once removed, Carolyn Metzger 3rd cousin once removed, Isabelle Fraser 5th Cousin, Bill Rainwater 6th cousin once removed, Jack Scott ...and last, but not least... 3rd cousin once removed, Charles Paul Kogge |
