Why I'm Interested In My Genealogy

My interest in my ancestors began when I was married. We displayed the wedding photos of our parents and all of our grandparents near our wedding cake. I decided to invest in a video of the wedding and our reception because I wanted my grandchildren and great-grandchildren to not only see our wedding photos but to witness our ceremony and the celebration that followed which could capture a bit of our personalities. Then, as we began to start our own family, I learned that twins ran in my paternal grandmother's family -- after I had already conceived twins! Although I lost my twins early in my pregnancy my interest was captured. I decided I needed to know all I could about my ancestors.

My genealogy interests are a combination of facts and photos. Old photos of ancestors intrigue me and I am collecting them from every branch. Some of my oldest to date are approximately 130 years old.

I have done a majority of my research within the Mallicoat family. I believe I have consolidated the research of many different individuals to trace our family back to almost 1000 AD.

I would like to know more about my father's family -- the Grau's. They came to the United States from Hungary Austria in the early 1900s but no one within our family knows or can locate any additional information.

I am also gathering information on other family lines. The Lilienkamp's, Baer's, Heinicke's and my husband’s family, the Kohrs'. In order to hit all of my goals I simply need more time and money!
