Family Photos

  • Magdeline Hastings Miller (56 KB)
This is a photo of my 3rd great-grandmother, b. 12/31/1819 in Bovina, Delaware County, NY; d. 1/11/1898 in North Kortright, Delaware County, NY. She was the wife of James Elliot Miller, who served in the Civil War, and the mother of my 2nd great-grandfather, William E. Miller. She is buried in South Kortright.
  • Franklin William Howard Family (163 KB)
This photo of my great-grandparents and their family was most likely taken in 1909 in Greene County, NY. The girl in front is Hazel Howard, age six and born in 1903, which dates the photo; the man seated is my great-grandfather, Franklin; the boy standing next to him is Glenn (my grandfather), age 12; behind him is my great-grandmother, Anna; next to her is Iva Howard, age 14; and, the man standing in the back is most likely Roy Howard, age 21. I never grow tired of looking at or talking about this photo!
  • William Elliot Miller (45 KB)
This is a photo of my 2nd great-grandfather, the oldest child of James Elliot Miller and Magdeline Hastings. He was married to Susan Dales, and they lived most of their lives together in the Town of Harpersfield, Delaware County, NY where William owned a farm. He was born January 2, 1842 in Bovina, and died November 9, 1915 in Stamford.
  • Susan Dales Miller (49 KB)
This is a photo of my 2nd great-grandmother, born May 5, 1847 in Rose's Brook, Delaware County, NY; died February 2, 1920 in Hobart. She was the wife of William Elliot Miller, and the mother of my great-grandfather, James Hastings Miller.
  • William Howard (65 KB)
This is a photo of my 2nd great-grandfather, William Howard. Born in Schoharie County, NY, he settled in Greene County, NY where he lived and worked for the rest of his life as a master blacksmith and farmer.
  • Anna Hoose Eckerson (58 KB)
This is a photo of my grandmother, Anna Hoose Eckerson, b. July 23,1899 in Barnerville, Schoharie County, NY; m. October 22,1914, Oneonta, Otsego County, NY, to Theodore E. Kohinke; d. December 10,1958, Oneonta, Otsego County, NY.
  • Franklin and Anna Howard, date unknown (84 KB)
This photo of my great-grandparents was given to me by Floyd Howard, who is also a great-grandson of Franklin and Anna Howard. We don't know the date it was taken, but guess that it was the 1880's in Wisconsin. The photo, which was in poor condition, was edited by Frank and Anna Howard's great-granddaughter, Linda Green.
  • Edward and Luise Kochintke with oldest son, Edward (80 KB)
Edward Kochintke, my great-grandfather and namesake, was born Oscar Eduard Kochintke March 12, 1855 in Santomysl, Schroda, Germany (now part of Poland). Luise Catharine Leibold was born in Stuttgart, Germany October 3, 1864. Both emigrated to the U.S. c.1883, and family lore has it that they met during transit. They married June 8, 1884. Their son, Edward J. Kochintke, was born in March 1885, so this photo was probably taken about that year in Albany, NY.
  • Edward Kochintke (55 KB)
This photo of my great-grandfather, Edward Kochintke, was taken at his house on Sloan St. in Albany, NY, probably in the early 1920's.
