Notes for Wilhelm Friedrich Eduard Boncies:
FLEDERBORN, coordinates: East 16°52' North 53°28' [today Podgaje], circle Neustettin [today Szczecinek] in today's Poland, is appropriate south the village barrier oh lake, 1579 based, in former times royal village in the office Neustettin, 1592:12 farmer, for six Kossäten, a Schulze, a Krüger, Mueller, three Spiekerer, a Stellmacher; because of a privileged cloth Mach suppl. work, to which 30 Tuchmacher belonged, avowedly as marks, 1826 conflagration (in three hours 32 farms, church, Pfarr and school building in ash put), 1939 Flederborn of 561 inhabitants had 1769.

Flederborn was founded in 1579 by 12 farmers, to the south-west of the village Wallachsee. The village’s name presumably goes back to a well (old German: “Born”) that was surrounded by bushes of lilac (“Flieder”). The chief founder of the village, Jakob Mileke (whose descendants seem to have lived there until 1945), became its first mayor. In 1592, the village counted 12 farmers, 6 cottagers, the mayor, a miller, a wheelwright, and a cobbler.

In 1769, thirty cloth makers were working in Flederborn, which therefore gained the status of a hamlet (“Flecken”).
On 12th October 1826, 32 farms, the church, and the school burnt down in a fire.

Protestant worship was forbidden during the period 1720 to 1772, and so Protestants from Flatow went to the church in Flederborn, Pommern.

Wilhelm and Augusta Bongs with their daughter Ida arrived in Elyria, Loraine Township, Ohio August 4, 1884 from Germany.
In April of 1887 they moved with Ida and another child, Charles, to Joliet, Illinois.
In the spring of 1888 they moved to a farm in Crete Township, Minnesota near the town of Clara City. They had four more children while living there.
In 1887 they moved to Woods County, Minnesota to a farm near Raymond. Six more children were born to them there.
On October 3. 1917 they moved back to Elyria, Loraine Township, Ohio. They made their home there for the rest of thier lives.
