The matriarch of our family was Regina SALAMON Fox. She passed away on her 106th birthday, March 15, 2004. She lived in 3 centuries. We are very proud of her. You can see a picture of Regina at her website by clicking the Humenne link befow. Some of Bubbie's words of wisdom:

Her family (Eichler, Salamon, Schoenberger) is from ODavidhaza and Muncach, Hungary (now Mukochevo, Ukraine), Kiyna and Humenne, Slovakia. Information about Humenne and surrounding towns can be found by clicking the link below. Other related names are Kaufman, Gestettner, and Kunstlicher.

Fred's mother Feige BAUM was born around 1870 in Kretchnef, now
called Craciunesti, near Sighet in Romania. Feige Baum's mother
was Rotsa Feig. Rotsa married Israel Baum. Rotsa's brother, Joseph Feig married Feige. When Joseph (Yossel) and Rotsa died, their spouses married each other. Many of their descendents came to Chicago. Some of them changed their name to Bohm and some to Baim.

    Eli Korer son of Joseph and Goldie Singer Korer born in Plunge, Lithuania, with his wife daughter of David and Esther Elkin Brodkin born in Minsk. The Korabov's lived in St. Petersburg and immigrated to Manchester, England in about 1884.

    Sarah Salamon married Yide Yitshak Salamon (1850-1912) and lived in ODavidhaza near Mukochevo, Ukraine. Their children were Leopold (1870-1942), Ruchel (1875-1944), Esther (1875-1953), and Joseph (1880-1942). Ruchel married Mordechai Lehrer and lived in Mukochevo, Esther married Ignatz Ostreicher and lived in Chicago, Joseph married Estika Kaufman and owned a Kocsma in Kiyna near Humenne. Three of the four children and their families perished in the Holocaust. A remnant immigrated to Isreal and America before the Holocaust.

    David Brodkin (1864-1938), son of Yitzhak Brodkin and Harriet Friedman born in Minsk, Belarus married Esther Elkin (1864-1928) also of Minsk. Children are (from left) Rose (Mozer), Beatrice (Korer), Janie, Sally (Gassenheimer) and Simon.
