I am researching the family names of Wendorf and Weimmken. These names belonged to my birth parents prior to their adoption.
The name Wendorf was given to my father at birth and he was adopted from a Catholic Social Welfare Bureau in Milwaulkee, Wisconsin in 1946 by a couple with the last name of Kanke. Both adoptive parents are deceased and I have no further information.
The name Weimmken was given on my mother's adoption papers at birth. I have looked all over for this name to no avail. I cannot find the spelling of that name anywhere. I suspect that it may have been misspelled on purpose. I have found millions of people with the name Wiemken that are located in the same vicinity of her birth. She was born Nov. 7, 1948 in Sterling, IL.
Both of her adoptive parents are deceased as well. The only other information that we have is that her adoptive mother told her that the birth mother was a widow with five other children. Any one who could give any information on this would be greatly appreciated.
