"Thomas Guptill had a grant of land at Salmon Falls, NH of 50 acres., May 20th, 1703. He and his wife Mary sold this land to John Shorey on the 20th of October, 1728.
From "Guptill Genealogy" by Mildred L Jacobson, page 8:"Thomas Gubtail2, b. abt. 1675, Berwick, Me. He was listed in the roll call of Cpt. James Grant & Co., Sept 20 to Oct 9, 1725. He fought on the side of Ens. Thomas Abbot in 1701 to keep the fowling marsh. Granted 50 acres above Salmon Falls in 1703; taxed in Berwick 1713. He and wife Mary o.c. in First Church of Berwick. He was still living in 1736. Only recorded child, Mary, born abt. Apr 16, 1705. She married John Pearce Feb 11, 1725. No further data."

Jacobson), and died Aft. 1762 in South Berwick, ME. He married MARY ISSELTON September 30, 1708 in Portsmouth, NH, daughter of BENJAMIN ISSELTON. Quoted from "Early Families of Gouldsboro, Maine" by Muriel Sampson Johnson:"Nathaniel Gubtail was born in Wales(I,Kerry Kosky, do not agree~I believe he must have been born in Portsmouth) but was not baptized until 11 Nov 1716 when he was living in Berwick, Maine. He died sometime after 1762.
Nathaniel married Mary Isselton, daughter of Benjamin Isselton, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire."

Nathaniel Guptill, who was probably a brother of Thomas Guptill, was born about 1680. Rev. Sinnett says he was born in England but I believe the evidence is that he was born in or near Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He was living in South Berwick, Maine in 1762. Noyes states that Nathaniel married twice and there seems to be support in that he married Mary Issalton in Portsmouth in the North Church on September 30, 1708 and his first child Mary was born in 1705. The records of the old church of South Berwick give the names of the parents of the Guptill children that were baptized there as Nathaniel Guptill and Mary. After this Nathaniel seem to have owned quite a lot of land at Kittery, Maine which was near his old home at S. Berwick."
