CLARKSBURG -- Mary Kathryne Alker, age 88, Clarksburg, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, following an extended illness.
She was born in Clarksburg March 29, 1913, a daughter of the late Curtis and Audra Harker.
She is survived by sons, Richard M. Alker and wife Nancy, St. Albans, WV and Bruce K. Alker and wife Patty, Clarksburg; granddaughters, Kara Alker, Texas, Leah Adams and husband, Chris, Florida and Natalie Alker, Clarksburg; grandson, Rich Alker, St. Albans, and two great-grandchildren, Jamin and Kenly Adams, Florida; one brother, Robert, Clarksburg, and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband of 57 years, P.K. Alker, preceded her in death in 1991. Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Herb Harker, Dallas, TX, Eugene Harker, Phoenix, AZ, Harold Harker, Clarksburg, and Jack Harker, Clarksburg.
Mrs. Alker was a graduate of Washington Irving High School. She had been an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarksburg and was involved in all facets of church life. She was instrumental in the acquisition of the carillon steeple bell system for the church.
She had also been a diligent worker with the Goff Plaza Garden Club in their numerous area beautification projects. She had enjoyed reading and was a member of the Clarksburg Coterie. Her participation as a member of the United Hospital Center Auxiliary brought her unmeasured happiness and satisfaction, and during her 19 years as a member, she served 17 years as Gift Shop chairman.
At the time of her retirement, Mrs. Alker was presented a replica of a plaque placed in the hospital gift shop commemorating her years of dedication in assisting the auxiliary efforts.
Friends and family will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main St., Clarksburg from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9.
A private family funeral service will be conducted in the First United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, with the Rev. L. Craig Michel presiding. Interment will be in Bridgeport Cemetery.

SHINNSTON -- Anna Mildred Ashcraft, 83, of Stoneboro, Pennsylvania, and formerly of Little Bingamon, died at 9:27 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2002, in the UPMC Horizon Hospital, Greenville Campus, Greenville, Pennsylvania.
She was born at Hundred, November 15, 1918, a daughter of the late Howard F. and Bessie Glover Sturm.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Clair Ashcraft, February 1982.
Surviving are 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Diana Ashcraft, Daybrook, Roger and Ginny Ashcraft, Fairmont, Glen and Brenda Ashcraft, Philadelphia, PA, Fred Ashcraft, Stoneboro; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Richard Campbell, Enterprise, Loretta and Sam Weaver, Sandy Lake, PA; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been also preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Mrs. Ashcraft was a homemaker and a Pentecostal by faith.

SHINNSTON -- Nina Maxine Ashcraft, 82, of Pawleys Island, SC, formerly of 3 Columbia Road, Shinnston, WV, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2002, at MUSC Medical Center, Charleston, SC.
She was born December 8, 1919, in Wyatt, a daughter of the late Alonzo and Lora Duncan Ashcraft. On December 24, 1937, she was married to Arthur L. Ashcraft, who preceded her in death September 17, 1993.
Surviving are two children, daughter, Mrs. Ted (Trudy) Gauer, Pawleys Island, SC, and son, Randy Ashcraft and his wife, Virginia, Plum Run, WV; 4 grandchildren, Christopher Todd Gauer, and his wife, Yvonne, Winston-Salem, NC, Mrs. Michael (Tracy) Haugh, Pawleys Island, SC, Allen Lee Irvin Ashcraft and Travis Randy Ashcraft, both of Plum Run; 2 great-grandchildren, Taylor Haugh and Trey Gauer; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, a brother, Clair Ashcraft, and a sister, Marie Satterfield.
Mrs. Ashcraft was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Shinnston, and The Order of Eastern Star Chapter 103, Shinnston. She retired from Stone & Thomas Department Store.
Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston, from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday. A funeral service will be at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2002, with Rev. Alicia Rapking officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.

CLARKSBURG -- Chris A. Ashcraft, age 47, Fernandina Beach, Amelia Island, Fla., and formerly of Clarksburg, died at his residence.
He was born in Clarksburg, Oct. 27, 1953, a son of Betty L. Graves Ashcraft, Clarksburg, and the late Delmer W. Ashcraft.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Rachel Ashcraft, Ohio; two brothers, Rickey L. and David M. Ashcraft, both of Clarksburg; three sisters, Mrs. William "Bill" (Cheryl L.) Goodwin, Dian E. Ashcraft and Mrs. Jeffery (Judith A.) Hayes, all of Clarksburg; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenton Wayne Ashcraft.
Mr. Ashcraft was a graduate of Victory High School, Fairmont State College and West Virginia University, where he earned a performance teacher degree. He was a concert pianist and had taught choral music, having students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Mr. Ashcraft was also an experienced restaurateur as owner and operator of the local Villa Restaurant. He had been keyboard artist and vocalist for a Florida band, "Island Spice."
He was employed as a concert pianist and entertainment coordinator for the Amelia Island, Ritz Carlton Hotel.

CLARKSBURG -- Dian E. Ashcraft, 40, 117 Rose Ave., Clarksburg, died Saturday, June 23, 2001 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown. She was born in Clarksburg, May 8, 1961, a daughter of Betty L. Graves Ashcraft, Clarksburg, and the late Delmer W. Ashcraft.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by two brothers, Rickey L. Ashcraft and David M. Ashcraft, both of Clarksburg; two sisters, Mrs. William "Bill" (Cheryl) Goodwin and Mrs. Jeffery (Judith A.) Hayes, both of Clarksburg; a companion, Ernest Asbury, Clarksburg; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenton Wayne Ashcraft and Chris A. Ashcraft.
Miss Ashcraft was a 1979 graduate of Liberty High School, and she had completed two years of nurses aide training at United Technical Training Center.
She had been employed at the Heritage Nursing Home, for five years at the Summit Center and was currently working as a care giver at Valley Mental Health.
She enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 E. Main St., Clarksburg from noon to 3 p.m. Friday.

CLARKSBURG -- Fred B. "Fritz" Ashcraft, Box 517, Route 1, Mt. Clare, WV, died at 7:51 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002, in United Hospital Center.
He was born in Clairton, PA, February 11, 1922, a son of the late A.J. Ashcraft and the late Violet Pyle Ashcraft.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Eleanor Crivelli Ashcraft, whom he married February 19, 1948; one son and daughter-in-law, Dan L. and Serena Ashcraft, Rt. 1, Mt. Clare; one brother, James Ashcraft and one sister, Virginia Cole, both of Pittsburgh, PA; six grandchildren, David Utt, Kristie Aley, Michael Utt, Steven Ashcraft, Becky Donnellan and Shane Springer; six great grandchildren, Aaron Aley, Arika Aley, Aleesia Aley, Joey Utt, David McGee and Ashley McGee.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary "Libby" Ashcraft Donnellan and one brother, Arthur Ashcraft.
Mr. Ashcraft was a Methodist. He had attended South Hills High School in Pittsburgh.
He was a dedicated golf enthusiast and served as Marshall at Bel Meadow Country Club. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran.
"Fritz" had been employed at Sears Roebuck Company for 14 years and retired as Building Supervisor from Baughman Towers, Philippi, WV.
Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main Street, Clarksburg, from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home Monday, July 1, 2002, at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Kenny Kendall presiding.

SHINNSTON -- Frederick Wayne Ashcraft, 62, of Tetrick Road, Shinnston, died suddenly at 12:42 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, in United Hospital Center, Clarksburg.
He was born in Harrison County on May 7, 1939, a son of the late Virgil and Mabel Ashcraft Abbott.
Surviving are his wife, Nina Stark Ashcraft, whom he married July 26, 1963; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rebecca "Becky" Ashcraft, Morgantown, Lorrie and Jeffrey Stewart, Shinnston; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Dianne Ashcraft, Colfax, and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one infant brother, Harry Abbott.
Mr. Ashcraft was a machinist, having retired from North American Phillips with 36 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Bible Baptist Temple in Stonewood.

ABINGDON, Md. -- Gary Ray Ashcraft, 54, of Edgewood, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at his residence.
He was born in Havre de Grace, a son of Lillie Marie Mitchell Ashcraft, Edgewood, and the late Harry Raymond Ashcraft.
Also surviving are one brother, Steven D. Ashcraft and wife, Marj E., Baltimore; one sister-in-law, Sharon E. Ashcraft, two nephews, Brian W. Ashcraft and Matthew D. Ashcraft, all of Sicklerville, N.J.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Ronald G. Ashcraft.
Mr. Ashcraft was a criminal records supervisor for the Baltimore County Police. He worked in interior design for several years and also in real estate.
He enjoyed car shows and had an interest in art and car design.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shinnston Masonic Cemetery, Shinnston, W.Va., with the Rev. Toni Beecher officiating.

Hazel S. Ashcraft, 96, of Glenville, departed this life at 1:50 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at Sunbridge of Glenville Rehabilitation and Care Center, following an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 17, 1906, in Doddridge County, daughter of the late James B. and Sarah A. Seese Sweeny. Mrs. Ashcraft retired from Glenville State College in 1971, and was a member of the Glenville First Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Richard "Dick" Ashcraft of Parkersburg; one daughter, Doris Jean Dodd of Kintersville, Pa.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ashcraft was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by seven brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Ellyson Mortuary Inc., Glenville, with the Rev. Robert Nicholas officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Park, Parkersburg. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., Glenville.

Rev. James Roy Ashcraft, 92, of Shinnston (Peora Community), died Thursday (Jan. 13, 2000) at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born July 10, 1907 at Bingamon, the son of the late Jerome and Olive Berdie Ashcraft Ashcraft.
He was a coal miner, having retired from Dawson Mines with 25 years in the mining industry. He was the pastor of the Bingamon Baptist Church, having been in the ministry for 40 years. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, Local #1501, Shinnston.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ervin (Mary) Willhoite of New Martinsville, and Shirley Berry of Wyatt; one brother, George Ashcraft of Estero, Fla.; one sister, Rose Hamilton of Shinnston; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and his special friend, Mary Martin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Crim Ashcraft, Sept. 28, 1995; three sisters; and one great-great-grandson.

CLARKSBURG -- Kenneth C. Ashcraft, 98, of Wolf Summit, died at 11:10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Clarksburg Continuous Care following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 26, 1901, in Wallace, a son of the late Adolphis and Carrie Alda Ashcraft.
His wife, Mabel Pearl Freeman Ashcraft, preceded him in death in February 1980.
Surviving are one daughter, Dorothy "Jean" Davis, Wolf Summit; one son, Lee Ashcraft, Wolf Summit; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was also preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Mr. Ashcraft was a member of the Reynoldsville Christian Church where he had been a deacon. He was a coal miner for the former Marine Coal Company, Spelter, and was a member of the I.O.O.F., Wolf Summit.

CLARKSBURG -- Kenton Wayne Ashcraft, 50, of 104 Rose Ave., died Monday, July 24, 2000, at his residence.
He was born April 26, 1950, in Clarksburg, a son of Mrs. Betty L. Graves Ashcraft, Rose Avenue, Clarksburg, and the late Delmer W. Ashcraft.
Also surviving are three brothers, Chris A. Ashcraft, Fernandina Beach, Fla., Rickey L. and David M. Ashcraft, both of Clarksburg; three sisters, Mrs. William (Cheryl L.) Goodwin, Dian E. Ashcraft, and Mrs. Jeffery (Judith A.) Hayes, all of Clarksburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Ashcraft was Methodist. He attended ITI Computer Programing School in Indianapolis, Ind., West Virginia Tech, Montgomery, and finished college at Fairmont State College, with a degree in chemistry and biology.
He had worked for N.L. McCullough Drilling Company, in the office of Anchor Hocking Glass Company, the city of Clarksburg at the waste treatment plant as a lab technician, the city of Bridgeport, as a superintendent of the waste treatment plant, and was the manager of the Ashcraft Mobile Home Park.
A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Masonic Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. today, with the Rev. George Mesto, conducting the service.

SHINNSTON – Mrs. Mamie Irene Ashcraft, 63, a resident of Peora, Shinnston, Rt. 1, died at her home at 2:10 a.m. Saturday.
She was born at Peora, Feb. 11, 1904, a daughter of the late Asa and Clara Miller Nay.
Surviving are her husband, Paul Ashcraft; two sons, Donald Ashcraft of Cadiz, Ohio, and Earl Ashcraft of Enterprise; two sisters, Mrs. Rex (Ollie) Ashcraft, Peora and Mrs. Dewey (Audra) Mayles of Peora; four grandchildren.
She spent her entire life in the Peora community.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Wyatt church for Mrs. Nannie Ashcraft, 74, widow of Wilmer J. Ashcraft, who died December 14 at her home in Weston. Rev. Oscar Nease, a former pastor, conducted the services. Interment tok place at Shinnston Masonic cemetery.
Mrs. Ashcraft was born July 7, 1872 in Marion county, a daughter of Joseph N. and Martha Louise Spencer Hess. Her husband, a lifelong resident of the Wyatt community, died July 13, 1943.
She had resided at Weston since shortly after the death of her husband. She has no survivors.

CLARKSBURG -- Mr. Nelson Clark Ashcraft, age 57, of Route 5, Box 565 A, Clarksburg, WV, formerly of Summit Park, died at 5:15 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2002, in the Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Clarksburg, May 1, 1945, a son of the late George T. and Dorothy Johnson Ashcraft.
Surviving are, two daughters, Mrs. Dan (Kirsten) Poteet, Greenville, OH, and Mrs. Howard (Holly) Roberson, Piqua, OH; two brothers, Maurice Ashcraft, Clarksburg, WV, and James Ashcraft, Johnstown, PA; four sisters, Mrs. Diane "Ann" Wiseman, Clarksburg, WV, Mrs. Barbara Persinger, Fairfax, VA, Norma Gallo, Clarksburg, WV, Mrs. John (Linda) Elsbury, Madison, OH; five grandchildren, Bethanie and Gwyneth Poteet, both of Greenville, OH, Morgan, Cole and Caitlyn Roberson, Piqua, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ashcraft was also preceded in death by four brothers, Stanley, Jesse, George, Michael and Rodney Ashcraft; and a sister, Kathy Ashcraft.
Mr. Ashcraft was Baptist by faith. He attended Victory High School before going in to the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served in Vietnam. He was a member of the Meuse Argonne Post 573 VFW in Clarksburg and the Alcoholics Anonymous in Geneva, OH. He had been employed as a welder for Marion Power Shovel in Marion, OH. Nelson enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.

Esther Mae Ashcraft Basnett, 77, of Mannington died Sunday (April 27, 2003) at the Wishing Well Health Center in Fairmont following an extended illness.
She was born June 18, 1926, at Little Bingamon, a daughter of the late James R. and Edna M. Bean Ashcraft.
Mrs. Basnett was the owner and operator of Cap’s Place, which she ran with her husband, and later owned A&E Place in Mannington. She was a member of the DAV Auxiliary, Fairmont, and the Elks and VFW auxiliaries in Mannington, and was a Protestant by faith.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy Burnsworth of McHenry, Md.; one brother, James Ashcraft of Plum Run; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred and Tom Raper, and Betty and Ronnie Burnett, all of Akron, Ohio; Ruby Basnett of Sullivan, Ohio, and Janice and Perry Thorne of Mannington; and a grandson, Mark Burnsworth of McHenry, Md.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Casper E. “Cap” Basnett in 1969; a grandson, Mike Burnsworth; a brother, Thomas Ashcraft; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Louise Lafferty, and Celestine and Hubert Dalton.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Mannington Memorial Park, Buffalo Road, with Pastor Joe Spiker officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Dent-Hutson Funeral Home.

Betty Belton Brown, 64, of Fairmont, died Monday (Nov. 18, 2002) at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born Sept. 21, 1938, in Dayton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Emmanuel and Bernice Crim McLemore.
She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed cooking, shopping, bingo and going to church.
She is survived by her husband, Leo Brown of Fairmont; her first husband, Alfred E. Belton Sr. of Dayton; four sons, Alfred E. Belton Jr. and Larry Belton, both of Dayton, Irving Belton of Atlanta, Ga., and Emmanuel Lee Belton of Fairmont; four daughters, Alagrea Belton of Dayton, Yvette Belton, Charlene Belton and Shaton Belton Hall, all of Fairmont; four sisters, Grace Lyons, Mable Lauro, Fannie Blow and Lorene McLemore, all of Dayton, 38 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a great aunt, Vera Banks of Dayton; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth and Antonio Belton; and one brother, Larry McLemore.

Shinnston, Feb. 6.--Mrs. Roena Burns, 66, wife of Benjamin Burns, of Lumberport, died suddenly of a heart attack at 9:30 o'clock last night at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon at the home and burial will be made in the Odd Fellows cemetery there.
Surviving are the husband; three sons, Fred, Bernard and William, all of Lumberport; five daughters, Mrs. Lelia Currey, of Haywood; Mrs. Emma Drain, of Shinnston; Mrs. Alma Hudson, of Lumberport; and Beatrice and Ruth, at home; two half-brothers, James and Abraham Glover, of Mannington; and a half-sister, Mrs. Matila [sic] Halpenny, of Bingamon.

He was born May 24, 1937, at Big Run, WV, a son of the late Arch D. and Anna K., Halpenny Crim Sr.
He was a self employed equipment operator.
Survivors include his wife, Diana Drain Crim, whom he married June 26, 1961; a son, Dwayne "Mike" Crim, at home; two daughters, Arlene Crim of Ocean City, NY, and Mrs. Alfred (Kimberly) Milender of Warren, Ohio; two brothers, Donald Crim of Braceville, Ohio, and Roger Crim of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. Donald (Ruth) Garrett of Enterprise and Carol Moore of Farmington; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Borowski Funeral Home in Newton Falls, Ohio. Burial will be in the Braceville Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Kidney Foundation.

CLARKSBURG -- Mrs. Edna M. McIntyre Davis, age 94, of 1620 West Virginia Ave., Clarksburg, died at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2002, in the Country Living Personal Care Home, Jane Lew, WV, following an extended illness.
She was born at Alvy, WV, on November 30, 1907, a daughter of the late Joseph McIntyre and Mae Carey McIntyre.
Her husband, Harry G. Davis, whom she married on July 30, 1926, preceded her in death on July 14, 1984.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Harry R. (Jack) and Esther Davis, Clarksburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Myrna and John Griffith, Braintree, MA; one sister, Josephine Fantl King of Prussia, PA; eight grandchildren, Roger Davis, Karen Klein, John C. Griffith, Mona Salmonte, Mary Goes, Mark Griffith, Billy Griffith and Gemma Mueller; seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six sisters, Marguerite Davis, Pearl Criner, Madeline Romano, Marion Davis, Evelyn Mahoney and Alice Geise; two brothers, Albert McIntyre and Loren McIntyre.
Mrs. Davis previously attended the North View United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main Street from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2002, with the Reverend Kenneth E. Kendall presiding.

Flowers Sr., 58, of Parkersburg, died Oct. 31, 2002, at his residence.
He was born May 22, 1944, in Parkersburg, a son of the late George and Opal Workman Flowers. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, where he received the Marksman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was self-employed in the construction business for the past 30 years, and his whole life revolved around his family and friends. His favorite past times were hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Janet Barker Flowers; one son, David Flowers Jr.; one granddaughter, Ciara Ann; three sisters, Jean Uhl, Mark Lou Foggin and Carolyn Astinson, all of Vienna; and three brothers, Jerry Flowers and Steve Flowers, both of Vienna, and John Flowers of Parkersburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Jo Ann Davis.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, with Pastor David Chisholm officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, with full military honors by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today and 4-9 p.m. Sunday.

SHINNSTON -- Mrs. Eva Blanch Fore, 79, a resident of Shinnston, died in St. Mary's Hospital, Clarksburg, at 8:15 p.m. Friday.
She was born Feb. 22, 1887, at Peora, a daughter of the late James and Minerva Haggerty.
She was first married to William Fortney of Wyatt and to this union was born one son, Dennis Neal Fortney, who survives at Shinnston. She was later married to Edgar Fore, who is deceased. She is also survived by one brother and four sisters: Harland Haggerty, Wyatt, Mrs. Dessie Heldreth, Shinnston, Mrs. Kizella Swain, Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Lela Sutrm, Sarasota, Fla., and Miss Florida Haggerty of Shinnston. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
One brother and three sisters are deceased.
Mrs. Fore was a member of the EUB Church at Wyatt.

She was thrice married. First to David L. Lawlis, next to Archibald C. McDougal and later to Melvin S. Frame, all of whom preceded her in death.

She was born Nov. 29, 1923, at Glady Fork, the daughter of the late Francis Gerome and Olive Birdie Ashcraft.
She was a member of the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Shinnston, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #31, Shinnston.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Samuel R. II and Becky Hamilton of Shinnston; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Sally Rice of Willard, Carol and Steve Crawford of Morgantown, Shirley Berry of Wyatt, and Barbara and Robin Blair of Clarksburg; a brother, George W. Ashcraft of Fla.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Richard Hamilton in 1975; a brother, James Ashcraft; and a step-brother.

JONESBORO -- Adrian L. Headley, 63, assistant professor at the College of Communications at Arkansas State University, died Monday at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Headley died of a long-term illness, an ASU spokesman said.
He had lived in Jonesboro since 1981 and had previously taught at Salem College in West Virginia and at Central Michigan University.
Before entering the teaching position, Headley worked on daily and weekly newspapers in West Virginia. Immediately before coming to Jonesboro, he served as chairman of the communications department at the University of Detroit.
He attended Amherst College in Massachusetts and received his bachelor's degree from Atlantic Union College in Massachusetts. He earned a master's degree in journalism in 1964 from Ohio State University at Athens and later studied toward a doctorate at Iowa State University in Iowa City.
Active as an office is the Public Relations Society of America, working with both the Little Rock and Memphis chapters, Headley served as a member of the National PRSA Judicial Ethics Committee and has been a public relations consultant to several local organizations.
He was a member of the Jonesboro Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Pauline [Martin] Headley; a daughter, Mrs. Nanci Kotowski of Clarksburg, W.Va.; a son, Bryan Headley of Philippi, W.Va.; and two grandchildren.
The body was cremated and burial will be in West Virginia.

MEMPHIS -- Adrian L. Headley, 63, of Jonesboro, head of the Arkansas State University Public Relations Department, died Monday at Baptist Memorial Hospital at Memphis.
Mr. Headley came to Arkansas in 1981 and served at ASU as an assistant professor of journalism and co-ordinated the public relations sequence in the University's College of Communications.
From 1969 until 1981, Mr. Headley was associated with the University of Detroit, where he served four years as chairman of the Communications Studies Department and also co-ordinated public relations.
From 1965 until 1969, Mr. Headley was an assistant professor of journalism at Central Michigan University at Mount Pleasant. He also was an instructor of journalism and English at Salem College at Salem, W.Va.
Mr. Headley also was editor of the Mason County, W.Va., News from 1957 until 1959 and served on the news staff of the Parkersburg, W.Va. News from 1959 until 1964.
He also was district superintendent of the Greater New York Conference of Seventh-day Adventists at Forest Hills, N.Y.
Mr. Headley was president-elect of the Little Rock and Memphis chapters of the Public Relations Society of America. He was a member of the PRSA Southwest district judicial panel, a member of Kappa Tau Alpha, the journalism honor society, at Detroit, and a former member of the Society of Professional Journalists, Sigma Delta Chi.
Survivors are his wife, Pauline [Martin] Headley; a son, Bryan Headley of Philippi, W.Va., a daughter, Nanci Kotowski of Clarksburg, W.Va., and two grandchildren.

He was born Feb. 16, 1881, near Wyatt, a son of the late Joseph and Rose Moore Hildreth. his wife, Flora B. Hildreth, died March 8, 1949.
He was preceded in death by two sons, one brother, and one sister.
Surviving [are three] nephews, Joseph McIntyre of Clarksburg, Forest McIntyre of West Union, and Fay McIntyre of Shinnston.
He was a retired store manager for the Consolidation Coal Co., and after his retirement from this, he was in the inventory department, until his retirement several years ago.

She was born in Doddridge County, WV, September 29, 1915, a daughter of the late Wesley and Levorda Ashcraft DeBolt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Brady Jewell, in 1993.
Surviving are her daughter, Wyno "Jean" Jewell, of Salem; one granddaughter, Patty Jewell Roar, Alliance, Ohio; and four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son, James Byron Jewell, and one daughter, Eloise Jewell.

He was born Feb. 14, 1932, in Wyatt, a son of the late Arch L. and Opal Marie Walls Martin. His wife, Doris Jean Riley Martin, preceded him in death on June 30, 1986.
Surviving are four sons, Roger Martin and Robert Tom Martin, both of Fairmont, Jeffrey Martin, Chiefton, and David Wayne Martin, Enterprise; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph "Darlene" Butler, Clarksburg, Wanda Joyce Shanks, Newark, Ohio, Carol Jean Hall, Fairmont, and Mrs. Thomas "Karen Kolleen" Cappiello, Shinnston; one brother, Dale Martin, SHinnston; one sister, Mrs. Harold "Imogene" Owens, Wyatt; 24 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two aunts, and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Sue Martin; and one brother, Earnest Martin.
Mr. Martin was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army.
He was a coal miner and a construction worker for many years.
Mr. Martin attended the Church of Christ in Bridgeport.
Friends will be received at the Dorsey Funeral Home in Shinnston from 7-9 today and after 2 p.m. Friday.

He was born at Wyatt, Feb. 25, 1883, a son of the late William and Delia Martin.

Zellen Robinson Martin, 99, of Coolville, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 11, 1902, in Clarksburg, W.Va. She was retired after 40 years of service from the A.B. Chance Co., where she was an inspector. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, south Parkersburg, attended Decatur Church and Gospel Baptist Church, Torch, Ohio. Zellen's church family was a very important part of her life, and she enjoyed her beautiful rose gardens.
She is survived by three grandsons and their spouses, Paul and Dottie Thompson of Coolville, Greg and Diana Thompson of Marietta, and Jim and Dorothy Thompson of Toledo, Ohio; eight great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; special friends Mary Griffith and Edith Ward; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Martin; one daughter, Mildred Thompson; one infant daughter; one son-in-law, Glen Thompson; one great-great-grandson, Tyler Thompson; and several brothers and sisters.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Green Street, Parkersburg. Interment will follow at the Evergreen South Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

SHINNSTON -- Walter Matheny, 78, of Shinnston, went home to the Lord on September 11, 2002, following an extended illness. He was born July 28, 1924, the son of the late Henry Guy and Lola McIntire Matheny.
His memory is cherished by his wife of 54 years, Anna Lee (Lake) Matheny; his daughter and son-in-law, Donna Lea and Terry Lee Wyke, Shinnston; one son, Terry and daughter-in-law Sharon Matheny, Florence, S.C.; and one granddaughter, Shannon Marie Wyke, Morgantown.

He was born Nov. 21, 1902, in Marion County, a son of the late Perry D. and Flora E. Robinson McIntire.
Surviving are his wife, Olive Hornor McIntire; three daughters, Mrs. Bruno (Betty) Stepahick, Hamberg, N.J., Mrs. Roy (Marjorie) Keith, Clarksburg, Mrs. Richard (Shirley) Tennant, Fairmont; one son, Walter McIntire, Rt. 1, Worthington; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Rev. Stanley P. Moore, 77, of Pine Bluff Community died Thursday (Jan. 9, 2003) at the United Hospital Center following an extended illness.
He was born June 21, 1925, at Pine Bluff, a son of the late Carl and Ruby C. Pigott Moore.
Rev. Moore served in the U.S. Army for seven years during World War II and served in the W.Va. United Methodist Conference for 28 years. The churches he served are as follows: Moristown, Tanner, Cairo, Union, Z-Warner, Middlebourne, New Cumberland, Pendleton-Grant, Coalwood, Cameron, Pine Grove-Jacksonburg and Wallace-Esler. He retired in 1987.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Moore, whom he married on April 30, 1954; three sons, Joseph A. He was born April 26, 1935, in Pullman. He was retired as a research chemical
analyst and had previously worked for the Operations Research Laboratory for Electronics
of Boston, Mass.; Boeing Aircraft, Seattle, Wash.; and the Urban Institute and
the Institute for Defense Analysis, both of Washington, D.C. He graduated from
Harrisville High School with the Class of 1952, held a bachelor's degree in
chemical engineering from West Virginia University and graduated from the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a master's degree. He was a veteran
of the U.S. Air Force with service in the Strategic Air Command, serving at
Vandenburg Air Force Base in Nevada.
He is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Joe A. Nay and Eric Nay,
both of Vienna, Va., and Kenneth A. and Sheila Nay, Westminister, Colo.; a
brother, Calvin Floyd Nay, Parkersburg; and a sister, Eleanor Nay-Childs,
Boulder, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph O. "Cooster" and Mary
Brown Nay.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, at the Pullman United

Mr. Smith served in the United States Army in the 1930s and in the United States Navy in the 1940s. Mr. Smith was a former teacher and store owner. He began his business career in Aviation and Submarine work for the Military sector, working for North American Aviation and Goodyear Aviation and retired at the age of 65 from Electric Boat, a Division of General Dynamics. Mr. Smith was a Mason and a member of Friendship Lodge #56 in West Union. He was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Old Saybrook, CT.

from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. A funeral service will
be conducted in the funeral home Monday, October 14, 2002, at 1 p.m. with
Pastors Bruce McBride, David Masto and Ross Frame presiding.
Interment will
be in Stonewall Park Cemetery.
In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society,

Mrs. Barbara J. Yates, 35, wife of Chester L. Yates, died at 11 a.m. Friday at her home in Cheverly, Md. Her death was unexpected.
She was born in August, 1910 at Shinnston, a daughter of Asa and Mary Drain Gallaher. Surviving are her father, now of Parkersburg, her husband, a son by a former marriage, Melvin Tichenor of Shinnston; four borhters, Archie of Lumberport; David, of Cheverly; Izan and Beuno, both of Parkersburg, and two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Cowger of Plymouth, Michigan and Mrs. Madeline Clutter, of Parkersburg.
