John M. Nortum, aged 74, who was visiting his daughter Mrs. Leon Bedford
died Sunday noon of heart failure. Funeral will be held Wednesday with
interment in Wardvale. Frank Nortum of this place is a son.

Notes for CATHERINE MARY TRIPPER:
The story told in the family is that Catherine spent alot of time alone with the children. John traveled frequently back to Indiana County. Her death was due to a fall during one of those times John was away. She was pregnant with their last child at the time. She fell on a tressle and the older children tried to care for her. The older children wrapped her in cloths and buried her in a small cemetery located in Rasselas, just north of Johnsonburg, in an unmarked grave.

Recently, thanks to the perseverance of Sonya and Myrtle Elmquist, the grave site was located.

Assistant Funeral Director at Ferragine's Funeral Home, Frank Ferragine, made and donated a permanent marker for her grave. July 2001.
