The name Kret evolved from Carette and variations such as Careth, Caret, Karet until it became Kret. This name was formalized in 1811 when registration of family names became law in the Netherlands. Members of the 'Kret' family moved from northern France to Leiden ca 1570. In the early days they were largely engaged in textile related trades and crafts like shearing, spinning, weaving, bleaching etc. HBecause of site limitations it is substantially out-of-date and I do not propose to maintain it any longer. Readers are advised to go to the links below or to http://www.myheritage.com/site-352733/kret-nagtegaal-families and from there view Kret and Nagtegaal family data. My apologies for any inconvenience. |
