THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS - WHEN I HAVE TIME TO WORK ON IT. THERE ARE BOUND TO BE ERRORS, WHICH I HOPE VIEWERS WILL PROVIDE INPUT TO CORRECT. I'M STILL LEARNING HOW TO WORK WITH THIS SITE , SO YOU'LL OBSERVE ONGOING CHANGES AS I DISCOVER BETTER WAYS TO PRESENT MATERIALS OR ADD TO ITEMS THAT ARE IN INITIAL STAGES. Thank You - Don Kricho.

I am seeking information about Jan Kriho, who emigrated to the US around 1900 from "Bresova, Hungaria". At that time, he may have had a brother living in Chicago. Jan was killed in a quarry accident in 1909 in NW Ohio, leaving his wife Rosa Patryk (Petricha) Kriho and 4 children, Dominic, Miklos, Stephen & Julia. Rosa, Dominic & Miklos Kriho emigrated from "Wittner" in 1906. There is no further information about Dominic who was placed in a NW Ohio orphanage in 1909 with Miklos (Michael). Particular areas of interest are Brezova pod Bradlom in Slovakia, or Brzezowa, Poland. There are a number of locations with names similar to Bresova - I have not yet defined the correct location, although many KRIHOs are listed in the 1869 Brezova pod Bradlom, Slovakia census. The Kriho surname seems to have been arbitrarily changed prior to the 1930 US Census to KRICHO, possibly resulting when Michael & Stephen KRIHO moved to Walnut Park, a Polish neighborhood in St. Louis. Both forms of the surname have the same pronunciation in Polish.

I am also seeking information about my maternal grandparents Adolph Gottleib Wetz (Vetz) who emigrated from Lomza, Poland in 1902 and Marianna Siemiatkowska, who emigrated at age 18, from Gosciszka, Plock, Poland in 1906. Gosciszka is located close to Zielona where my great-grandparents Jan Siemiatkowska and Teofila Zalewska were married. Other nearby towns are Zuromin and Ciechanow. Adolph Wetz and Marianna Siemiatkowska were married in St. Louis, Mo in 1907 at St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church.
