I started my genealogy research in the spring of 2001 after receiving a letter from my cousin Betty Martinez in San Antonio, Texas inquiring about some family photos. Her letter made me realize how little I knew about my family history. My parents both died when I was quite young and though they had shared some information with me while I was growing up, like most young people I didn't keep records or pursue my ancestry with any passion.
I have spent the last five years learning as much as I can about my ancestors. All of them are Norwegians with the exception of one great grandfather who was Swedish. I joined the Scandinavian Genealogy Society in Portland, Oregon and the people I met there have been an invaluable resource. Most of my research has been done in Family History Libraries on microfilm of church records in Norway and Sweden. I have also found valuable information in several Norwegian local history books(bygdebøker).
I have been in contact with some of my Norwegian relatives that I didn't know until doing this research. I have also been communicating with many U.S. relatives, some of whom share my interest in genealogy. I would enjoy hearing from those of you who visit this website and I am willing to share any of the information which appears on this site. I am still looking for photos of my maternal great grandparents, Andrew Punland Anderson and Anne Haagensdatter who died in North Dakota in 1916 and 1915 respectively. My email address is krokumr@msn.com.
