| The roots of the Kuchta family of West Allis include the following family names: Kuchta, Lukasczyk, Palmer, Turner, Wakeman, Wilde, Mathews, Patterson, Johnson, Taylor, Arms, Smead, Clark, Ring, Bassett, Elmer, Phillips, Tenney, Foster, Tomkyns, Skelton, Felton, Boynton, Stranways, Way, Wilkins, Crandall, Coles, Hindes, Austin, Potts, Benton,and others. I am particularly interested in finding further information on Andrew Patterson in Orange and Ulster cos. NY. He arrived from Ireland in 1812, according to tradition. He and his wife Mary Cox lived in Newburgh and New Paltz. They had 4 children before she died. He then went to Chicago around 1840 with his son John and daughter Sarah. She married John Turner in 1843 in Chicago, but I can't find more about Andrew or his wife Mary. I am descended from John and Sarah Turner and have a lot of information on this family. Also seeking information on my Coles line. The great-grandfather James Albert Coles was born 1859 in Michigan, according to the census. He died 1887, probably Muskegon, Oceana or Newaygo county. His wife Frances Hindes, who is descended from the Austin-Potts lines in Ontario, remarried (John Wolcott). James Andrew Coles is proving to be a brick wall. |
