Updated August 10, 2008

***
I am researching the families of my grandparents, Albert Mamlock and Genevieve Friberg.

Albert was born in 1884 in Kalisz, West Prussia. Later his family lived and prospered in Berlin. Albert died of natural causes in 1938, and several siblings lost their lives and families in the Holocaust. His brother Isidor/Eugene had emmigrated to Palestine c.1910, and raised his family there. In the mid-1980's the families of Albert, and his brother Isidor/Eugene were reunited through the efforts of Theodore Wolfgang Mamlock. We have been blessed to bring this family back together, and together we are exploring our past.

Other surnames of Albert's direct ancestors include: Mamelok, Itzig, Amsterdam and Szlamo.

Genevieve was born in 1893 in LeSueur county, MN and was raised in St. Paul, MN. She is the daughter of Plazi Benedict Friberg and Jospehine Wieland. Both of her parents immigrated to the US as children, around 1850, from the area of Chur, Switzerland Both families were Romansch. Together with approximately 16 other families from the same area in Switzerland, they formed a community in Sharon Township, near LeSueur, MN, which was known as St. Henry. The church these early families established is still active, and the surrounding cemetary is a visual history of the families that settled the area.

Other surnames of Genevieve's direct ancestors include: Wieland, Frieberg, Friburk, Freiberg, Bertossi, Smidth, Schmid, Gendrew.

Albert arrived in the US in 1909, and eventually made his way to Minneapolis, MN. He met and married Genevieve c.1920, and they had five children, Eugene, Corrine, John and Jean. The family lived in St. Paul, until shortly after Albert's death, when they moved to St. Cloud, MN.

Other surnames of their children and grandchildren include: Troness, Cosgrove, Skumautz, Williams, Kuma, Thyen.
