The Kurtz family has a long history in the United States, starting with the first family members who immigrated from Germany. Many family members were ministers in the early Lutheran Church. Others left Pennsylvania for the "frontier" be that Missouri, Iowa, Colorado or California. This genealogy record is for all the children of these pioneers, so they will know their heritage and understand where their families came from. In the words of Dr Bockman:

"Through ancient customs, our ancestors still rule us from nameless graves. No generation makes a clean break with the past. Certain fundamental elements shape the character and quality of each generation. New names, new inventions, new horizons, but the men and women who march bravely on are akin to those who plowed with oxen."
