The George McCombs of Edwards County, Illinois

I have been researching the George McComb family since 1978. I've been in a lull for several years and am just getting back to it. I used to write a quarterly newsletter "McComb Matters" and have quite a few other McComb(s) contacts other than my family and would be happy to share them.

Reunions are held every year either in Kennett, Missouri or close by in Tennessee.

George was born in March of 1815 in Armagh County, Northern Ireland and came to the US approximately 1830s firing coal aboard a ship. He was supposed to have reported one of the first things he saw was "the stars fall from the sky in 1833" (I would guess a meteor shower. His travels took him from whereever he landed through Ohio, Illinois and his family eventually spread to Texas and most of them to Southern Missouri, where they have spread over the United States.

Any information would be helpful. I have just entered over 1300 names in my tree and continue to add more every day.
