The Carlsons & Nelsons of Östergotland and Linköping, SwedenUpdated July 5, 2004 | |
| I began this family tree as a gift for my son. It has since taken on a life of it's own. I am currently researching my Swedish ancestors of Östergotland and Linköping, Sweden. Magnus Nelson of Ljung Parish, Linköping County, Sweden, arrived in the United States on May 13, 1869 and settled in Gowrie, Iowa. He came with his wife, Maria Sofia Larsdotter, and their 5 children. A sixth child, Hannah Gustava Nelson, was born 2 months later - the first to be born in America. Hannah is my great-grandmother. Frank Otto Carlson, of Gröndalan, Boxholm, Ekeby Parish, Östergötland, Sweden, emmigrated to America and settled in Dayton, Iowa. He married Hannah Gustava Nelson April 16, 1890 in Gowrie, Iowa. Frank is the son of Carl Jonas Andersson and Carolina Gran of Boxholm, Sweden. In addition to trying to locate other generations, I am currently trying to determine when Frank Carlson emmigrated to the U.S. and if he had a brother named Anders G. Carlson or any other siblings. This tree also includes the Cutler, Fetterly, Fircik, Kvas and Ronning surnames. |
