On 3 Jul 1860, Stephen BUCKLAND sold his share in the estate of his son, Peter Buckland, which included 167 acres on the Greenbrier River, promissory notes, and personal property, to John, Richard, Francis, James and Mary J. Buckland, since he was "old and infirm and unable to give attention to settle the estate." (Monroe Deed Book T, Page 635). Then on 8 Feb 1861, he sold his share in the estates of his sisters, Susan and Elizabeth Buckland, which included 24 acres, Laurel Creek, to his sons James and Richard Buckland (Monroe Deed Book T, Page 724).

Melinda (MEADOWS) Buckland's father, FRANCIS MEADOWS, JR., applied for a Revolutionary War pension 16 Jun 1818, when he was a resident of Monroe County, Va., and was issued a pension 29 Jan 1819.

Had eight children. Sandy G. of FL says birth date is 1792.
We had birthdate of Sept 16, 1797, but then she would have only been 11 when married. So one of the dates is probably in error. LDS Ancestral File ver 4.15 lists surname also as Meddowes and Meddes. Elsie Cook e-mails on 6/13/96 that her CD record shows the marriage between Stephenson Buckland and Milly Meadows as 26 Feb 1811 in Monroe Co., VA.

The Dec 1987 Meadows Heritage Newsletter has marr. dt as 2/28/1809.
