John COX was first married to Julia DEBOY on 22 May 1820, Monroe County, the daughter of John & Elizabeth DEBOY. He married second Jane Sartain, 13 Nov 1849, Monroe County. He married Elizabeth Buckland, 26 May 1869,
Monroe County. Jane and Julia Ann (DEBOY) Cox had at least four children: Nancy, John D., Joseph, & ELIZABETH COX, b. 21 Oct 1826, d. 23 Jan 1890, Talcott District, Summers County. She married FRANCIS BUCKLAND, 10 Jun 1846, Monroe County.

Francis BUCKLAND b. 17 Aug 1820, Monroe County, d. 10 Nov 1893, Summers County, bur. Freedom Baptist Church Cemetery, Powley's Creek, Summers County. He married Elizabeth Cox, 10 Jun 1846, Monroe County, sister of his
Nancy Cox, wife of his brother John Stephen Buckland.

Confederate Civil War records state:
Francis Buckland enlisted 20 Aug 1861, Red Sulphur Springs, Monroe County, in R. G. Lively's Va. Millitia as a Private.

The first parcel of land owned by Francis BUCKLAND, along with his brother, John Stephen Buckland, was deeded on 11 Sep 1841 - 148 acres on the south side of Greenbrier River, from William and Mary Hinchman (Monroe Deed Book N, Page 147). They sold it on 14 Dec 1850 to John D. COX (Monroe Deed Book Q, Page 289). he received the following Land Grants:
1 Aug 1850 - 89 acres, Powley's Creek, by Land Grant to John Buckland and his brother, FRANCIS BUCKLAND

(Monroe Survey Book 3, Page 437);
20 Oct 1856 - 35 acres, Greenbrier River by Land Grant, to John Buckland and his brother, FRANCIS BUCKLAND

(Monroe Survey Book 4, Page 172);
2 Jul 1855 - 43 acres, Powley's Creek, by Land Grant (Monoe Survey Book 4, Page 71)>

On 6 Aug 1884, John Buckland deeded ± acre of land in Greenbrier District to the Summers County Board of Education to build a school house upon the right hand fork of Big Creek, near the house of John D. COX, reserving timber rights (Summers Deed Book G, Page 412). After his death, his real estate was disbursed to his heirs; Peter F. Buckland, Allen C. Buckland, James H. Buckland, Joseph S. Buckland, Martha J. Persinger, Nancy E. Rice, W. A. Wells and R. A. French.

On 24 Aug 1892, he deed 28 poles of land in Talcott, Greenbrier District, to the Summers County Board of Education to build a school (Summers Deed Book N, Page 463). Before his death, he disbursed his real estate as follows:
24 Aug 1892 - ± interest in Old Mill site on Powley's Creek, to James Boyd, who originally sold him the ± interest in 1883 (Summers Deed Book O, Page 491).

19 Oct 1892 - All real estate situated in the County of Summers on the waters of Powley's Creek to his sons, Joseph P. and Francis W. Buckland, and money to his daughters except for MARY ISABEL (BUCKLAND) WISEMAN, who had already been given a tract of land (40 acres at the foot of Elk Knob, 8 Oct 189, Summers Deed Book J, Page 499). The real estate consisted of 5 tracts: 118 acres, 24± acres, 43± acres, 16O acres, and 18 acres.
