I am researching and cataloging information on the Carroll & Julia Patterson family from east Texas. Carroll & Julia reared 11 children in east and west Texas during the prosperous east Texas oil boom, the difficult times of the Great Depression and World War II. Today, their descendants number well over 130 and growing. Carroll's father, Henry Jackson Patterson, was born in Alabama in 1846 and came to Texas sometime before 1880. After coming to Texas, he met and married Abigail Dawkins Jarvis, a widow with 2 small children originally from Lousiana. They had 4 children together, but only 3 survived to adulthood. Julia Patterson was born to Lewis Gambrell and Henrietta Susan Barksdale. She was second of three children raised by the couple. I welcome any information you can provide to help my research and documentation. I would especially like to have any photos and interesting stories that could be added to our family tree. If any of the information is incorrect, please notify me as soon as possible. We have a Patterson Family Reunion every "even" year that is currently being held on the old family homestead located outside of Troup, Texas over the Thanksgiving Holiday.
