I am researching the Lacasse (Casse) family originally from Anjou France. Our ancestor came to North America in the early 1600's and settled in Quebec. Since then we have spread throughout Canada and the USA. I have found many references to my Lacasse ancestors and have haphazardly put them into Family Tree Maker Program. I am now starting over and trying to get sources and avoid some of the mistakes I made the first time.
The family tree I am posting here is my first attempt (the unplanned, haphazard one) at Genealogy. I am doing this for two reasons - the first being I have not come close to a PLANNED publishable family tree. Second I'm hoping that by creating this page anyone researching the same individuals as myself can either show me some of my errors or give me some new information. I will post my Planned/corrected/sourced family tree as soon as possible so that it can be a source of information for everyone.
The one thing I have found since starting this Genealogy project is that although having dates and finding your ancestors back to the 1500's is great, in the end all you have are numbers and letters. I am most interested in any stories anyone can share with me about any of the individuals in my family tree. In return I will post the stories and pictures I come across.
I would also suggest anyone researching the Lacasse family tree to check out Paul Lacasse's web site. The information I received from Paul has been invaluable.
Other family names I am researching are:
Barney, Roberts, Boutin, Elton and Chopiak.
