Welcome to my Taylor Family Home Page. A lot of the information on this site would not have been possible without the generous assistance from a lot of dedicated researchers.
A few years ago, my mother was talking about her family (the Thompsons) and her interest in finding out whether the family bushranger legends were true or just that - family legends! And so my quest to research my roots began. Luckily enough, I had a lot of unusual names in my family tree and was able to fairly quickly obtain a lot of information. I eventually came back to the Thompsons and have been going in circles ever since!!
My great grand father, John William Thompson married Sarah Anne Gooda in Narrabri, New South Wales on 29 September 1874. Apart from his marriage, I haven't been able to find much more information. As luck would have it, his mother's name on his marriage certificate is hardly legible and, of course, his father's name was also John!
I have actually found an Australian bushranger by the name of John Thompson. He was jailed and pardoned a number of times and eventually put on a steamer to South America and "was never heard of again". Perhaps this is the reason why "my John Thompson" seems to have disappeard off the face of the earth - but then again, its probably another dead end.
I would appreciate any information and am more than happy to share the information I've found.
