Notes for Melchert Jurians:
Much has been researched, and written about Melchert in the article "The European Origin, and Ancestry of Joseph, and Resolved Waldron" by Douglas Richardson (New York Genealogical, and Biographical Record, volume 126, pages 2, 24, and 112). Mr. Richardson's work is the benchmark for clarity in this families history, which corrects some information submitted to the Mormon IGI. In 1606 this family appears in Amsterdam, Holland, and they were still living their in 1616, and Melchert was mentioned as living alone in this city in 1627, and again in 1631. He was buried as "Melger Jurjaensen" in Amsterdam on 07 Feby., 1638 (Burials Karthuijser Cemetery 1148:160; FHL 0114697).
