Notes for Geoffroy de Pompadour:
The first known ancestor of this line was listed in old French Armorial records as probably being a descendant of Ranulfe Helie de Pompadour, who in 1399 was titled as Seigneur de Chateaubouchet, in the territory of of Lascous, and Janaillac, and in the territory of Pelhac in Bretagne, France. He also had an estate in Poitou, France. Geoffroy was listed as the Seigneur de Chateaubouchet, and as a descendant of this family. He was the grand-Archdeacon of the church of Peerigueux, and conseiller of the Parliament of Bourdeaux. Ranulfe Helie de Pompadour is stated in many records as a descendant of Ranulfe (Renoul) Helie II, Seigneur de Pompadour, who lived in Cromieres, and Aarnac, de S. Cir-la-roche in 1351. He was a deputy Cardinal of the Church, he was a Chevalier (Knight), and a warrior. He was a friend of the Pope in Avignon in 1399. This Ranulfe married Constance de la Marche in 1364, the daughter of Guillaume de la Marche, and Jeanne de La Motte.
