Descendants of Barent Symessen

Generation No. 1

      1. Barent1 Symessen was born Abt. 1601 in France, and died Abt. 1644 in New Amsterdam. He married Tryntye Claes Abt. 1639 in Palatinate, Germany. She was born Abt. 1603 in Holland, and died September 21, 1698 in New York City.

Notes for Barent Symessen:
Virtually nothing is known about Barent, except that he came to New Amsterdam ca. 1644, and died shortly afterwards, because his widow remarried to Jurian Blanck. His only known son used the usual Dutch Patronymic naming patterns as used in Holland, assuming his father's first name, as his last name.

Notes for Tryntye Claes:
She was a witness to a baptism in the Brooklyn DRC on 06 Nov., 1661.

Children of Barent Symessen and Tryntye Claes are:
+ 2 i.   Thys Simon2 Barentszen, born Abt. 1640 in Amsterdam, Holland; died Aft. 1682 in New York City.
3 ii.   Jan Barentszen, born in Holland.
  Notes for Jan Barentszen:
Jan is so placed as a son of this couple, and as a possible brother to Simon Barenzen because he was a witness, along with Simon, and Wyntie Arents (Aerts), on 22 Sept., 1652, and also on 28 October, 1674. It is not proven that he was even a relative, but given the same last name, he most likely was either a brother, or cousin.
