I am researching both sides of my family - mother and father! PATERNAL NAMES:
LACHANCE, D'AOUST (Malvina), LABROSSE, BEAUDOIN, DUBE, DUCLOS, PELLETIER, PAQUETTE, SIMARD, THEBERGE.
MATERNAL NAMES:
BUSSELL and BRESSELL, CARLOW, ESHLEMAN, NEWMAN, LOKEY, LUCAS, WHEELER, RIDGLEY
Especially interested in the Bussell/Bressel lineage. Great Grandfather Richard Harson Bussell,born in NYC, abt 1853, had five children, three boys (Richard Harold, Philip, and Victor); two girls (Bessie King Bussell and Roselie (born Camellot/Poughkeepsie, NY July 5, 1888).
As of this writing, I have NOT found any information about Bessie King Bussell or Roselie Bussell. Both girls were assumed to be raised by their maternal grandmother, Mary Carlow. Bessie King Bussell applied to the City of NY for her birth certificate in 1956 and signed here "married name" to the application. I am unable to decipher the handwriting so can't go further. Richard's wife was Antoinette Louise Carlow (her father was Isaac P. Carlow). The three boys were turned over to Childrens Aid Society at the turn of the century and were sent to various parts of the midwest as a part of the Orphan Train movement. It would seem the Carlows are from Dutchess County in NY.
Richard Harson Bussell, a lumber merchant in NYC, appears to have abandoned the family in 1900 and no more information has been found on him, to date (Sept 2, 1998) His mother-in-law, Isaacs's wife was Mary Carlow, last know address (1927) Morristown, NJ.
The Eshlemans hail from Lancaster, PA. My Great Grandfather, John Martin Eshlemans father, (name unknown) was an original member of the GAR.
LaChances all appear to come from the St. Evariste area of Quebec.
Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
