* Syzman Swistara Family -- from Poland*

Updated February 5, 2002

I am researching the family history for Syzman Swistara & Mary Mista from Poland. They had 6 children -- Franciszek, John & George is all I know, along with another brother & 2 sisters. My grandfather was John Swistara & he came to the U.S. in 1907. He married Laura Malinowski, who came to the U.S. in 1905. They had 6 children -- only 3 made it to adults -- Stephanie Swistara King; Monica (Mayme) Swistara Scripp; and my father, Francis Swistara. After my grandfather's death, my grandmother, Laura (Walerya in Polish) married a man named Jacob (Jake) Kulakowski & they had one daughter together -- Hedwig Delores Kulakowski (she changed her name to Harriet King).

I do not know much about my grandfather's brothers -- Franciszek & George at this time. George Swistara resided in Michigan around the Detroit/Lansing area. Franciszek resided in Toledo, Ohio as did John Swistara & his family.

I do know that some of my great-grandmother's family came over -- Mista. There was a George, Lawrence & Stephen Mista that resided in Toledo during the 1910 census & were in close association with John Swistara. Also, there was a Valentine Mista that lived at one time on Majestic Drive and was suppose to be related to us.

I am looking for any information or leads that I can get. I am more that willing to share information with anyone that might be connected or know anything about the Swistara family, Mista family, Malinowski family that would have resided in the Toledo, Ohio area or Michigan area.
