Carl Joel Whiting (son of Joel A Whiting and Ruth Ann Howard) was born October 23, 1862 in Braintree, VT, and died April 1916 in Raymond, NH. He married Grace Deborah Ladd on September 15, 1898 in Raymond, NH, daughter of John Warren Ladd and Deborah Jane Bean.

From The Brown Book of the NH Legislature of 1915 -

"District Number Twenty-Two.--Carl J. Whiting, Republican, of Raymond, was born in Braintree, VT., October 23, 1862; educated at the Randolph (VT) State Normal School; druggist; attends Congregational church; married; one child; has held the various town offices, Mason of the 32d degree and shriner, Odd Fellow, Patron of Husbandry and member of the Derryfield Club, Manchester. Elected (as state Senator) by 1,930 votes to 1,849 for William H. Benson of Derry, Democrat and Progressive."

1880 US Federal Census lists Joel Whiting, age 43, and wife, Ruth, age 44, and sons, Carl (age 17) and Frank (age 12), and daughter, Myra (age 5).
