The Laepple Family Home Page

Updated May 13, 2007

The name Laepple (Pronounced Lep' lee, in Germany Lep’lah)
seems to originate near Bittenfeld, Germany . It is one of those names few will pronounce correctly and even fewer spell it correctly. The German name lexicon‘s indicates the root names as Lapp(e): Lappen:
with its various spellings LÄPPLE; Other Spellings Noted Were: Lepley, Laepplin, Lepplin, Lepplen, Lapple, Laipple, etc.

If your ancestors came from Wurttemberg, Germany and their name was Laepple or Lapple, we are probably distantly related. Four or more principal groups of Laepple's immigrated to the United States in the 1800's. My group came to a German settlement in Eudora, Kansas. A related earlier group immigrated to Philadelphia & Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a third to Michigan and Indiana. The fourth group known as Laepple (Changed the spelling to Lepley) and moved to areas in Pennsylvania and Ohio. Recently I have connected all these groups to common ancestors.
