The other two are commonly known by their abbreviated names as the Order of Malta and the Teutonic Order*. These Orders strive to foster the traditional ideals of chivalry in the contemporary world by uniting their members in corporate acts of charity according to their particular mandate.

The brief of investiture for this most noble Order of the Holy Sepulchre speaks of its institution in ancient times for the honour and protection of the Holy Sepulchre of the Divine Saviour, and of the many evidences of high regard and goodwill repeatedly shown it by the Roman Pontiffs. The special mandate given by the present Holy Father to this Order, now headquartered in Rome and spread world-wide through its regional Lieutenancies, is to both strengthen the faith of its own members, while continuing to support the Christians of the Holy Land in these difficult times and circumstances.
* The Teutonic Order is now mainly clerical and religious in constitution, but has Knights of Honour among its lay familiars.
