A collection of facts and family information on the Decendants of William Lake (1745-1826) gathered over the past 35 years. This collection of family data was begun purely because of curiosity. I wanted to know something of my ancestors - who they were, what they did, where they lived, etc. But as my files of material grew, so grew my interest and enjoyment in the search. A great many people have contributed their time, thought and efforts to the research that follows. To mention them all by name would be impossible, but to all I am forever indebted. I only trust that the end result is enough reward for the effort they expended. If I were to dedicate this genealogy to any one person, it would have to be to my Aunt Bessie Lake Carpenter, who fired the first spark of interest, furnished the first page of facts, and fanned the flame of enthusiasm each time it appeared to be dying out. Until her death in 1969, she was a constant source of information and family lore.
