63. JOSEPH ROBESON⁴ LAKE (GEORGE WASHINGTON³, GEORGE B.², WILLIAM¹) was born May 06, 1873 in Marion County, WV, and died October 25, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois. He married KATHRYN MARIE HARRINGTON September 1904 in Spokane, Washington. She was born July 27, 1883 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and died June 1940 in Spokane, Washington.

Notes for JOSEPH ROBESON LAKE:

Joseph moved to Spokane, Washington from Fairmont, West Virginia where he met and married Kathryn. He was Kathryn's school teacher. His sister Nancy lived in the same block in Spokane. After his marriage, Joseph went into the grocery business and was very successful. While on their way home to Fairmont, West Virginia for a visit in 1938, Joseph was stricken with a heart attack in Chicago and died suddenly. Kathryn was born in Salt Lake, Utah and died in Spokane. Kathryn's parents came from Ireland and crossed the United States by covered wagon to Spokane. Kathryn was born on this trip. Her oldest brother, John, was born in Ireland. The Spokane valley was called Harrington's addition to Spokane.

Icy never married. The following is copied from the death notice in the Times-West Virginian (Fairmont, WV) on September 18, 1996:

Icy Snow Lake, 96, of Rock Lake, died Monday (September 16, 1996) in Fairmont General Hospital. She was born November 11, 1899 (note: this differs from the birth records by two weeks - see above) at Rock Lake, a daughter of the late Kingery K. and Mariah Jane Linn Lake. She was a longtime farmer and was Protestant by faith.

Survivors include two nieces, Betty A. Lorentz of Gordon, Nebraska and Janie M. Boyce of Pleasant Valley (Fairmont); three nephews, Dale L. Lake of Lompoc, California, Don J. Lake of Hoyt, Kansas and Philip A. Lake of Pleasant Valley; two sisters-in-law, H. Elsie Lake and Mary H. Lake, both of Fairmont. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Samuel A. Lake, Henry T. Lake and Dent O. Lake.

Friends may call at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, today from 2-9 p.m. and Thursday from 10-11 a.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Glady Creek Cemetery near Rock Lake. At the request of the family, memorials may be made to the Hebron Baptist Church, Glady Creek, Fairmont.
