76. JOHN WILLIAM4 LAKE (WILLIAM LYNN3, NIMROD2, WILLIAM1) was born March 01, 1882 in Braxton County, WV, and died 1972. He married EFFIE L. EDWARDS.

The following article was prepared by Robin Lake Crane and Karron Lake and was mailed to me by Sue Pringle of Bedford, Texas as two pages from an unknown publication. It appears to be from a history of Braxton County, West Virginia:

"John William Lake was born on March 1, 1882 in the town of Braxton in the County of Braxton, West Virginia. John was the fourth child of William Lynn Lake and Mary Sarah Elizabeth Dyer. William Lynn Lake died in 1891 when John was barely nine years old. His mother never remarried, so John and his brothers and sisters learned at an early age the value of hard work.

When John was 23 years old, he married Effie L. Edwards. They had only one child, Hayward Jackson Lake. Times were hard and John and his family were forced to move many times in order to earn a living. Somehow, he and Effie managed to save enough to purchase a small store in Exchange, West Virginia. This store is still in operation today. John and Effie operated this store for many years until they decided to retire. At about this time, however, the Social Security Act came into being and John being the wise businessman that he was, decided to go back to work and pay into Social Security long enough, so that he could draw a retirement pension. Therefore, he and Effie purchased another store in Copen, West Virginia. After several years, they retired again and moved for the last time to a small farm in Flatwoods, West Virginia where they both lived until their deaths." 77. JULIUS CLINTON4 LAKE (WILLIAM BAILEY3, JEREMIAH2, WILLIAM1) was born October 13, 1837, and died April 20, 1928. He married MARTHA J. SKINNER. She was born March 05, 1839, and died June 14, 1921.

Notes for JULIUS CLINTON LAKE:
Julius was the third born child of William and Mary Lake. He was born in Henry County, Indiana and married Martha on September 2, 1858. They lived in Henry County until 1873 when they moved to a plot of land three miles west of Marion, Indiana in Grant County on State Road 18.
